Call of the Sirens

First inspired by music from the Silk Road, Coil launched from a spontaneous idea to do a “snake charmer act.” The two have orchestrated a banquet of musical fairy tales portraying everything from Tan Dun’s Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon embellished with Chinese silk fan veils, to a saucy version of Gershwin’s Summertime in 1940’s attire. Coil continues to push their act to new heights in precipitous conditions, creating scenic performance art videos at heights of 6,000 ft. On a slippery dock, or a jagged rock in fabulous frocks, DeLuca’s powerful sound is languorously magnified with elastic hips and fluid hands of Rialto. Coil is an intense and luscious kaleidoscope for the senses!
