Coil

“I must admit I was mesmerized by this “charming” act. As Laurie wove a hypnotic spell with her beautiful clarinet and skillful melodies, I was immediately transported to another place in time. Their costumes were spectacular, in fact if I could have sat closer to have a better look I would have. Both the “charmer” and the “snake,” the gorgeous Lesley, in her amazing costume (I understand she makes her own) shimmies and shakes her ominous spine as if she were in a trance. I certainly felt like I was. When I left I was already thinking about seeing their next show, and what a unique and interesting act these two talented performers had created.  I for one will be back for more as they have certainly charmed me!”

“Well, the whole gang at Georgia’s Greek Restaurant is beaming and gleaming and screaming with joy at this bit of artistic outrageousness by two of their stellar friends. Yia sas, koritsia! Xronia Polla

-Hank Bradley, one of Seattle’s finest folk musicians

“It is other worldly in its mesmerizing quality yet so earthy and natural and I think raw, it transports me.”

- Lauren Johnson, director of Shula Azhar Troupe

“I recently had the privilege meeting Coil at a children’s yoga/self-discovery camp I was teaching. To put it mildly, we were all completely floored by their performance. My jaw was hanging open the entire time, and the children seemed to be in a total trance (this is very rare!). The duo’s energy was absolutely intoxicating. From the minute Laurie began to play, the power and vitality of the music seemed to manifest itself within Lesley’s movements. She is a true master of her body, and her grace and sensuality was truly unbelievable. Lesley made it look so easy, although we all knew better! It was no surprise to find out she has been dancing for half of her life. The children and I absolutely loved having them as visiting artists. I must also add that Lesley has one of the most gorgeous smiles I have ever seen. When she flashes that smile, she completely has you at her fingertips (or more accurately her hips!). In my two years teaching the camp, they were far and away my favorite visitors! What a wonderful opportunity for the children to see such a unique and intimate performance. From their elaborate and exotic costumes/makeup to they way in which the two women “communicated” and played off one another was phenomenal. I hope to see them perform again, and I have no doubts to how inspired I will feel afterwords. It literally made my week.”
